Take this rule: whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of God, or takes off the relish of spiritual things; in short, whatever increases the strength and authority of your body over mind, that thing is sin to you, however innocent it may be in itself.
Susanna Wesley: The Complete Writings, ed. by Charles Wallace Jr, (New York: Oxford University Press, 1997), 109.
This is an excellent quote by a very godly woman. I remember reading about Susannah Wesley. She was an amazing mother and follower of Jesus Christ. Thank you for sharing this wonderful wisdom from her!
This is a great quote! My youngest daughter has been asking a lot about what sin is and reading this has given me an idea of how to explain it in a way she may better understand.
After I posted this, I wondered if I should have entitled it something else. Obviously, this is NOT the definition of sin but I think it helps to clarify what is sin. Your little one is blessed to have a momma like you who fears God & holds in high regard His Word. Love to the Dermer clan!!!
