There are days when I yearn for a more simple existence. NYC living can be hard and I often feel like the salmon swimming upstream. Then there are days when I’m glad God, in His divine providence, put me here. The afternoon that I recorded this represents one of those days.
I hope this humble but talented group of men bring you as much joy as they did me when they appeared out of nowhere to brighten an otherwise dreary train ride home. This took place on the Brooklyn bound “R” train shortly before rush hour a few weeks ago.
And yes, that’s me giggling in the background! Enjoy!

That is so cool. I just showed it to Emily and she said, “I miss NY.”
You never know what you are going to see and/or experience there, that’s for sure.
I wonder if we were ever on the R train. Most of the time we were on a train and/or subway no one would make eye contact with us. Everyone was generally “plugged in”, reading, or sleeping. Hardly anyone ever smiled. What a breath of fresh air these men must have been.
Thanks for sharing this with us, Christina.

Yeah, you nailed it Pat. If you watch the video notice how disengaged everyone seems. My husband called them “deadbeats” — such a contrast to the liveliness these men brought!
It doesn’t happen all the time but every once in while there’s a ray of sunshine down under! 🙂
Still hoping for a visit one day from you two! I know it would be a pure delight!

That’s so neat! I see your beloved was with you too. Grace and Love, my friend!

That’s very cool. It’s sad that so many people were tuned out or rather only tuned in to their electronic devices.
Deejay O'Flaherty says
WoW. Very cool! That would never happen here–stiff upper lip of the Brits donchaknow 😉

So cool. Only in NY.

So funny that we picked the same theme — I guess the old adage, “Great minds think alike” really is true! Hehe! 😉
As for our church, no, we don’t go to Redeemer. We go to a small startup in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn. As it turns out however, my pastor did attend a Church Planting conference that was offered by Redeemer. Pray you and Jen had a beautiful Lord’s Day today! I’ll be visiting your place soon!

Loved the post Christina! What a blessing to hear them singing on a train…it does brighten up a day! Why can’t we all do a little more singing, praising and lifting up of others? It is also good to see you back again! I have missed you and your posts. Love the new website look too! It is great! Need to work on mine some more! Many blessings to you my friend!

Wonderful 🙂 As Deejay said, this wouldn’t happen in Britain 😉
Christina says
Diana — if what you and Deejay are saying is true — that is, that in London the odds of such a sight as this are very slim, what pray tell, do your fellow citizens make of you? You both have a little rogue streak running through you! Hee! 😉

I love this! So fun 🙂
