The glory of God is primary

April 17, 2011 by Christina

“In this system of theology [the doctrines of grace], the glory of God is central. As every planet revolves around the blazing sun, every truth of sovereign grace rotates around this one fixed point – the glory of God. The unrivaled pre-eminence of God stands at the focal point of this theological universe. That God is to be the chief object of praise in the display of His grace is what energized this solar system of truth. As the compass always points north, so the doctrines of grace constantly point upward the lofty heights of the glory of God.”

Steve Lawson, Foundations of Grace, A Long Line of Godly Men, Volume 1, page 31.

Amen Christina! A loud AMEN! How well said by Steve Lawson. This is at the crux of our faith. He is sovereign over all the affairs of men. When we recognize this, it is delightful to fall down and worship our King. We find rest in knowing He is fully in control. How I praise Him for that!

Me too Barbara! We had the awesome privilege of hearing Steve Lawson speak in Alabama at The True Church Conference. How I thank God for these men whom God has raised in our generation to herald the glory of God!

Have you read this book? I just started it…pray you having a beautiful Sunday! Our service is a little later in the day so I am enjoying a quiet morning!

Love and blessings to you my precious sister! Still haven’t found the email : ( not in spam either! It’s floating out there somewhere in cyber world! : )

Awesome quote! Dad and I picked up a copy of this book at the Ligonier Conference (along with its companion, Pillars of Grace).

As a relative newbie to the doctrines of grace, this is what distinguishes reformed theology so clearly. Great quote!

Beautiful post, Christina! The picture adds so much. 🙂

My 13 year old is reading this book, and he’s really enjoying it. I love it when he says, “Listen to this, Mom….”

    Love you, my dear sister!

This is such a wonderful book Christina. I can’t help but hear Steve Lawson’s voice reading this awesome quote. The guys got the new Vol 2 “Pillars” at the conference this year.

Tracing doctrines of grace through the centuries – how encouraging!

Have a wonderful Resurrection Day weekend, my sweet friend!
    Much love!
