“But He, being compassionate, forgave their iniquity and did not destroy them; and often He restrained His anger and did not arouse all His wrath.” (Psalms 78:38)
Isn’t it a wonder that our darkened, wavering, wretched hearts don’t move Him to cast us off forever?
I have transgressed. I have rebelled. My heart has not been steadfast. I forgot His power. I was unfaithul to His covenant. I grieved him in the desert.
He should not have forgiven me. He should have punished me and killed me without pity.
Instead He heard me from the depths. He answered my cry for help! He had compassion on me. He took up my cause. He restored me. He redeemed me.
According to the abundance of His steadfast love, today, I am filled with hope!
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” (Lamentations 3:22)
